"Never let a crisis go to waste" is the left's go-to play. Well, now it's ours! Shockingly high energy bills this past month have Delaware citizens up and down the state alarmed and we've got their attention! Now, we need to inform them WHY their energy bills have just about doubled, due to green-not-so-green left no-common-sense-nonsense policies. See below for the specific policies that democrats passed that have gone into effect January 2025.
The Red Shift Plan
President Trump is moving so fast (warp speed 2.0) that we are finally seeing the left on DEFENSE! We need to keep this pressure up in Delaware. There are so many positive actions that President Trump is taking nationally that are resonating with Delaware citizens, even those that are registered to vote as democrats and independents, that we can take these actions to induce a Red Shift in Delaware, one of only two states to shift blue this past election. How can we accomplish this? Though many of us enjoy discussing these positive actions President Trump is taking at our Republican meetings and chat groups, and though we may feel very good expressing and sharing our opinions in these echo chambers, we need to get the good news out far and wide and share with those who as of yet have just not heard of all that is going on in the nation and how it affects Delaware, and them as individuals.
Therefore, as our 38th Vice RDC stated, we will be having a letter-to-the-editor writing campaign, where we will encourage hot topics of relevance. We will encourage all republicans in Delaware to express their views on these hot topics and send them in the form of Letters to the Editor, Open Letters and Opinion pieces to all of our statewide media (email info@38thdrcp.com for statewide media contact list). With an appeal to non-republicans, to join the winning team and be part of the solution, the golden age of American going forward.
Consistent Messaging
The issues we will address will be far ranging, whatever happens to be most relevant at the time. One thing we can do to make our messaging consistent, is to use a few key phrases repeatedly, to get the point across that we need to do what is best for Delaware, and that what the democrats are doing makes no sense and lacks common sense, due to their ethical disconnect with reality, and that Delawareans need to vote democrats out of office. Therefore, here are a few key phrases to utilize to this end.
"Stop the nonsense, vote for commonsense"
This one phrase really says it all and can apply to anything the left is doing, whether it be their failures in Delaware education, green energy policies, or their woke agenda. Folks will use their imagination to fill in whatever it is they believe to be the nonsense of the left, and will prefer the commonsense of the Right.
"For Delaware!"
Just as the French use the term "Vive la France" patriotically, we can do the same for Delaware and express the same in two simple words, "For Delaware!", to show that our motive is to do what is best for the people of Delaware. For Delaware!
"Ethical Disconnect"
I have long wondered what the heck is wrong with the hearts and minds of democrats, and my only conclusion is that when you do not have a love of God in your heart, it is just not possible to make good and right decisions, that you would always be led toward the darkness and wrong decisions, no matter your intentions. Once I determined this though, I found it difficult to translate this concept to others without getting too long winded. But I think this phrase captures exactly what I mean and what is going on in the minds of democrats, that they are just disconnected from truth and goodness, and to keep it simple, I think "Ethical Disconnect" says it all. So if you can't understand what the heck is wrong with the way democrats think, now you know, they have an Ethical Disconnect.
"Choose what's Right, Register Republican, and let's win together, For Delaware!"
This just kinda wraps up our goals and sentiments.
Topic of the Week:
Increase in Electric Bills due to Green Energy Requirements
Is the Biden Delaware Way just a money laundering Ponzi scheme to enrich the oligarchy paid for by Delaware citizens? If the Delaware Way is anything like USAID, then yes, it is. Bloom Energy, anyone?
You may have noticed that your energy bill is higher than usual this past month. And if you think it is because January was colder than average, you would only be half right. If you pay closer attention to your bill, you will see a few additional fees that were increased on schedule to hit this January 2025, thanks to the misguided efforts of the Delaware democrat legislators who voted to choose green-not-so-green energy policies over reality of energy in Delaware. Due to the passage of a succession of green-not-so-green energy laws, Delawareans are now paying for these left agenda choices with real money, in real time. The cost increase is not a surprise, but democrats are pretending and lying that it is, and their usual fall guy? The climate! Oh yeah, and the Trump tariffs!
Unfortunately, many of our fellow Delaware citizens are not aware of this and may continue to blame the weather and blame the power companies directly, instead of placing blame where blame is due, on the democrat policies that caused this. We need to inform these masses, our fellow citizens.
Delmarva Power Admits Cause of Increase Prices
"The charge in the distribution fee, separate from the purchase of the gas, reflects the infrastructure investments that are necessary to deliver it to the home, and the wear-and-tear on the infrastructure that occurs as part of that delivery... that's proportional to the customer's usage," Delmarva Power Region President Phil Vavala said on WDEL's Rick Jensen Show.
The Democrat Laws That Caused High Energy Prices
The socialist left Delaware Democrats want to save their worried minds regardless of what the actual truth is about climate change, and to assuage their consciousness, they required that we the people pay for it. This process goes back to 2021 when Delaware lawmakers passed a multitude of clean energy bills and they did it prematurely without having the infrastructure to support it. See below for the relevant bills.
This Act modifies the Renewable Energy Portfolio Standards Act to do the following: Continues increasing the required minimum percentage of electrical energy sales to Delaware end-use customers from renewable energy sources through 2035.
In other words, SB 33 increases the requirement that energy purchases in Delaware meet a certain percentage, regardless of the increased cost to consumers. This bill just kicked in January 2025. SB 33 forced Delmarva Power to comply with clean energy requirements but Delaware does NOT have clean energy infrastructure. Despite this, Delaware democrats elected to close the Indian River Power Plant. This means we have no clean energy infrastructure and can't produce clean energy and we don't have the power plant producing energy, so where is our energy coming from? Auctions. Auctions that are based on market rates which can fluctuate based on demand, times of day, and supply.
The additional problem is that we are paying higher prices for delivery because the energy is being transported through longer lines, congested lines, and old lines that are less efficient. These delivery charges fluctuate constantly as well. This also explains why some further away from the source of the energy (where it's being stored) are really feeling the impact while others (who are closer to the source of energy) are not experiencing super high bills from the delivery fees being double the actual usages.
This Act requires that all passenger vehicles and light duty vehicles owned and operated by the State be zero emission vehicles by 2040 by requiring increasing volumes of zero emission vehicles every few years.
The Delaware Energy Solutions Act of 2024 authorizes processes necessary to help meet the net zero goals of the Climate Change Solutions Act of 2023. The bill facilitates a transition to carbon-free energy sources by (i) preparing for offshore wind to be a significant element of Delawares energy future, if cost is competitive with other potential sources, and (ii) increasing options for interconnecting renewable energy resources to the transmission grid.
This Act requires that all passenger vehicles and light duty vehicles owned and operated by the State be zero emission vehicles by 2040 by requiring increasing volumes of zero emission vehicles every few years. The Office of Management and Budget (ran by convicted shoplifter Cerron Cade) shall be authorized to grant exemptions to these requirements. Law enforcement vehicles and vessels of State agency law-enforcement personnel; vehicles owned by the Department of Education, school districts, and charter schools; and designated take home vehicles shall be exempt from these requirements as well.
This Act requires new schools and state buildings over 50,000 square feet to meet certain requirements to ensure that the building's roof is able to support solar energy infrastructure.
This Act amends the provisions in Title 9 of the Delaware Code relating to the county comprehensive plans for Sussex, Kent, and New Castle Counties, and Title 22 of the Delaware Code relating to municipal comprehensive plans for municipalities with populations greater than 2,000, to require that their comprehensive plans increase community resiliency and address the impacts of climate change.
SB 7 of 2024 - State energy policies
All of these bills relate to getting us moved to solar and wind and all have clauses to include subsidies because they were told by expert witness testimony and all Republicans that prices would skyrocket.
Don't like higher energy prices? You can thank Democrats for this crisis!

Rising Energy Cost Podcast Brent Burdge with Rick Jensen
Listen to SD5 Special Election candidate Brent Burdge, an engineer from DuPont, talk about these topics with Rick Jensen Podcast. Interestingly, Brent mentions that gas prices have actually decreased compared to last year, indicating that the rise in energy costs isn't due to the price of gas itself.

SAMPLE Letter to Editor
Here is a sample letter written by a Delaware Republican Grassroots member. If you would like to join the Delaware Republican Grassroots email chain, email Joyce Hoover.
Electric costs are much too high. We need to have less or no wind and solar power which are high-cost and unreliable. We need more natural gas, nuclear, and coal.
The cost of fuel cell electricity is outrageous. Delaware needs more in-state generation and less reliance on out-of-state and so-called renewables which aren't reliable.
Air quality in Delaware meets all air quality standards and does not justify high-cost, unreliable, low-capacity-factor renewables.
Delaware CO2 emissions are approximately 0.03% of total global CO2 emissions and do not affect climate.
The idea that Delaware needs to lead the way on renewables for climate change is ridiculous Virtue Signaling.
The job of the Public Advocate is to protect the public from high costs, not to approve them.
Please advocate against the high-cost renewable policies and for common sense lower-cost energy for Delaware.
We need to stop this nonsense and restore common sense for Delaware.
Thank you.
Use these key phrases as often as you can, to continue to hammer the common message that the left is out of touch, not good for Delaware and how we can help Delaware out of her dark age.
