Only 1 Democrat Needed to Fail Assisted Suicide Bill - We Need You to Reach Out TODAY

Dear God Loving American Patriots,
House Bill 140, the legislation that would legalize physician-assisted suicide in Delaware, has passed the House by the narrowest of margins and now sits before the Senate and will be voted on Thursday, April 17, 2025. This bill represents a serious threat to the values we hold dear, not only as Republicans, but as a community that believes in the sanctity of life and the dignity of every person.
We commend our Republican legislators in the House who stood firm in their convictions, and we are grateful for the five Democrats who had the courage to cross party lines and oppose this dangerous bill. Their leadership gives us hope, but it’s up to all of us to carry that hope forward into action.
Now is not the time to stand on the sidelines.
House Bill 140 has serious flaws that cannot be ignored. It endangers our elderly, the mentally ill, and individuals with disabilities, opening the door to elder abuse, insurance fraud, and a likely increase in overall suicide rates. Beyond its immediate consequences, this bill would fundamentally alter Delaware’s legal and ethical approach to medical practice and health-care decision-making. The implications are vast, and the risk is real.
After consulting with Senate Minority Whip Senator Brian Pettyjohn, we know this: it will take just one Democratic senator to vote against House Bill 140 for it to fail in the Senate. That means the opportunity to stop this dangerous legislation is still within reach, but only if we act now.
Senator Kyra Hoffner and Senator Ray Seigfried have the potential to vote in our favor. I urge every member of our community to call/email them today. Tell them that Sussex County is paying attention, that we are engaged, we are principled, and we expect our values to be represented and defended in Dover.
The weight of inaction falls heaviest on the most vulnerable.
