This election procedure was decided by the remaining Sussex County Republican Committee Executive Board, which is comprised of the Sussex County RDCs, who voted unanimously on the following:
* There will be an interim board to oversee the Special Election, which includes an Interim Chair, Interim Secretary and Interim Parliamentarian appointed by the Interim Chair.
* The Special Election will occur on 10/9/2023, at the next Regional meeting for Special Election as per the bylaws. Article IV Section 16 Succession.
* Application deadline for officer position will be 10/5/2023.
* Waive the 15 day requirement for officer application submission to Secretary 15 days prior to the election.
*There will be no proxy votes. As per Article VIII Section 3. Proxies, there is no language in our bylaws that specifically designates the allowance for proxies to vote.
Note: notice of contested elections that requires open positions be posted on the SCRC website are for contested EDC elections only as per Article VII Section 5. Contested Elections. There is no requirement for open positions to be posted in local newspapers as per our current bylaws.

Notice for Sussex County Republican Committee from SCRC Interim Secretary:
Attention Sussex County Republicans,
We will be holding a Special Election for the Sussex GOP Officer Positions (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer). These positions will serve until the end of the current term which ends at the Region Meeting following the U.S. Presidential election in November 2024. The Special Election will be held on Monday, October 9th at 6pm at the Millsboro Fire House 109 E. State Street, Millsboro All registered Republicans in Sussex Country are eligible to run. If you are interested in running for any of these roles, please complete the attached application form & email back to me (jenniequinn@yahoo.com) by EOD October 5th. I've included Position Descriptions below, as per the Sussex by-laws updated on 2/6/22. Please note that only the SCRC Advisory Board, which includes RDCs and EDCs, will be permitted to vote, in accordance with the by-laws. Election will be by majority vote. In the event you are elected for one of these roles, your term will begin immediately at the 10/9/23 Sussex County Republican Committee Regional Meeting.
Article IV. Officer Duties and Meetings Section 1. Chairperson Duties The Chairperson of the Sussex County Executive Board shall direct the administrative affairs of the Board, serve as presiding officer, appoint all committees unless the membership provides otherwise and perform such duties as are established by the State Committee, the County Executive Board and the laws of the State of Delaware. The Advisory Board shall be promptly notified of all said appointments.
Section 2. Vice-Chairperson Duties The Vice Chairperson shall perform the duties of the Chairperson in his or her absence. The Vice-Chairperson shall also perform other such duties as the Chairperson and/or the Executive Board directs.
Section 3. Secretary Duties The Secretary shall keep the roll of the membership, maintain records of attendance and minutes of all meetings. In addition, s/he shall maintain timely records of the Committee and perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Chairperson of the Committee. The Secretary is responsible for maintaining the roster of all Annual Convention Delegates and Alternates. The Secretary shall be responsible for the delivery of all records of the Committee to his/her successor.
Section 4. Treasurer Duties The Treasurer shall maintain an account of all funds of the Committee and shall be responsible for the collection and maintenance of the funds. The Treasurer shall be authorized to withdraw these funds and to pay such obligations of the Committee as are directed by a majority of the Executive Board members. The Treasurer shall prepare a written financial statement to be presented at the Executive Board meetings. The summary statement will include bank account balances, receivables and payables. All debts and donations will be disclosed. The statement will be in compliance with all applicable Federal, State, and County laws, rules and regulations. An annual internal review will be completed by two members of the Executive Board and reported to the Executive Board at the February Executive Board meeting. The Treasurer will also file all State Campaign Finance Reports accurately and on time.
