Why You Need to Go - School Board Election Audit Monday 5/15/2023

It is very important that we as citizens stay involved with our election process, even after the election is done, so to speak, because the election is not done on election day, it is done after the votes are counted. And part of this process is the audit that occurs several days after the voting. This audit will occur Monday May 15th, 10:00 a.m. at the Georgetown Department of Elections office.

Why is this important? This past school board election, there were three separate instances of a poll worker who turned in two voting machine register receipts for the same machine. That's three poll workers turned in duplicate receipts for three different machines, one in Red Clay school district, two in Christina school district. Currently we do not have a statement from the Department of Elections. This error may not have changed the election results, but should we allow such errors to occur without a mechanism to identify and correct such errors?

This is why we need Patriotic Poll Workers for starters! We also need more patriots who will attend and observe the election audits. It makes a tremendous difference when more of the public are there showing interest and reviewing the process.

"We should all become very familiar with the State of Delaware Election Code that the Department of Elections are to follow. Not only will this help us understand what they’re doing, hold them accountable to the code and determine what law changes we may find appropriate to pursue through our Delaware Representatives. Without this nothing is likely to change." - JR.

"From someone who has sat practically alone at school board meeting, I understand the difference even just one person looking them in the eyes can make." JE

A quick illustrative story of how just set of eyes can make all the difference:

"Back in my 20's. I had a wisdom tooth that was cracked and had to be pulled. They scheduled an emergency appointment with a specialist. They planned to knock me out to do the procedure. That is not something I wasn't too keen on, and then when they said it was an additional $350, that made my mind up for me. Told them I would just go with Novocaine and a buzz on laughing gas. Lol Apparently, not something they are used to when they do surgery on a wisdom tooth. They performed the surgery as normal, which included casual conversation, inappropriate jokes, workplace gossip, and, um, resting tools accross my face! When I would laugh at something said, or better yet, when he would go to lay a tool accross my face and my eyeball is staring back at him - their dumbfounded reaction was priceless! You see, so many are used to their ways of doing things without observation. All it takes is one eyeball looking at them, not to mention that dumbfounded look you get when they realize they are being watched, which that is worth the price of admission!" - JE
